Preference for kids over dogs upsets Pompey dogowners
News item: Dogowners have reacted negatively to the proposed building of a fenced-off playground for children in Portsmouth.

A couple of points to note:
“To appease protests from dog-walkers, the city council says dogs will still be allowed in the enclosed area after the play area is built at the hospital in Locksway Road, Milton.”
This would seem to defeat the purpose of having it enclosed in the first place.
“But dog owners fear it won’t be long before an excited dog jumps up on a child, leading to a ban on animals being exercised there.”
An unusual level of awareness from a dogowner there. I find that dogowners are generally in denial about this kind of thing. Then again, it does appear that they see nothing wrong with this. Indeed, the whole point of the argument is very much that children are just an annoyance getting in the way of dogowners doing whatever the hell they want with their animals.
