A couple of points to note:
“To appease protests from dog-walkers, the city council says dogs will still be allowed in the enclosed area after the play area is built at the hospital in Locksway Road, Milton.”
This would seem to defeat the purpose of having it enclosed in the first place.
“But dog owners fear it won’t be long before an excited dog jumps up on a child, leading to a ban on animals being exercised there.”
An unusual level of awareness from a dogowner there. I find that dogowners are generally in denial about this kind of thing. Then again, it does appear that they see nothing wrong with this. Indeed, the whole point of the argument is very much that children are just an annoyance getting in the way of dogowners doing whatever the hell they want with their animals.
Deliveries suspended after attack on postie
The Royal Mail has suspended deliveries to a cul-de-sac in County Durham after a postie was attacked by an Alsatian living in an adjacent road. Residents are angry, and rightly so, but seem to be misdirecting their anger toward the Royal Mail, which is only acting to protect its staff, rather than toward the dog owner.
Cleethorpes residents terrified by dogs
News item: “A pair of “problem dogs” have struck fear into residents of a Cleethorpes street, who claim the animals are giving them concerns for the safety of their children.
They allege that two Staffordshire Bull terrier-type dogs – which are believed to live in the area – have mauled a cat to death, left excrement on the pavement and repeatedly hounded passers-by.”
Birmingham man jailed over fighting dogs
News item: “Manawar Hussain, 37, from Bevington Road, Aston was found guilty of two charges of possessing a dangerous dog and two charges of training an animal in connection with fighting.”
The judge said: “Dog fighting is so prevalent in Birmingham I have to make an example of you.”
Hussain was sentenced to 18 days in jail and banned from keeping animals.
Village terrifed of guard dogs
News item: “Residents have told councillors how they are too frightened to walk past guard dogs on duty in their Stroud village.
The community concern has been fuelled by a recent incident when an Alsatian Rottweiler cross from the premises allegedly broke free and bit schoolboy Enda Maguire, eight.”
